Hey All, Sorry I have been MIA for so long! I have been busy with life as a first time mother with a 2 year old toddler… one with a lot of energy and super clingy personality… Anyhow, I am able to squeeze sometime into my busy life and started something new. I have created a recipe blog where I will post all my recipe collection with photo demonstration. Please like and follow my Recipe Blog or click on “My Recipes” in the main menu of this webpage.
A believe that there’s a nerdy hippie inside of me. Sometimes life itself get me so busy that I forgot about myself, less and less me time and then no more me time. Lately I have been getting back into my diy projects with sewing. I have attempted soap making sometime last year but I guess I’m not that great in it. At one point I had an assortment of herbs and edibles in my garden. I missed that greatly. Perhaps now my son starts walking and with the help of my parents I can give myself a break here and there on some gardening and visit that inner hippie self here and there.
So what have I gotten myself into lately? Yes I have joined the no poo movement. No poo means not using commercial shampoo to wash your hair. And to seek more natural ways to get your hair cleaned. There are different and many hair rinse recipes out there as well as homemade soaps available thru small home base businesses and recipes available online. Since I have not been great with soap making and my hair is important… I have turned to purchasing shampoo bars thru etsy. I have also received some shampoo bars and a face wash bar thru a trade with my friend who is the owner of Bodhi’s garden delight, a local home base soap maker. Her soaps smell awesome and definitely hippie. Here are pics of the shampoo bars from Bodhi’s garden delight. They are all handmade by my dear friend and only with the best quality oils and herbs.
My favorite is the clay cleansing bar for face because it left my face super smooth! Last night I tried the Laximi shampoo/body bar. It smells delicious and very refreshing. It lathered up nicely and my hair felt very clean after. I did use a diluted apple cider rinse as recommended by several bloggers to remove built up and to detangle my hair. And after rinsing out my hair is shiny and soft and does not smell like salad dressing. All in all it’s great, I also used couple drops of rosemary hair oil as leave in moisturizer. By not blow drying my hair gets more volume and my natural wavy hair is back. I’m not too fond of the look but I think I’ll get used to it. I can always sleep with my hair in a sock bun and wake up with soft curls.

I have drawn up a new pad shape and is trying this out so my pad swap partner. I am also making several of this for my friend’s moon box that I have been putting together. I like it, easier to sew and faster.
Now the breast pad is a different story… My sewing machine was giving me bad attitude when I was using the overlock stitch to fake serge the edge. I don’t know about giving this to my friend as a gift:/ not cool.
Due to the lack of babysitter today 2-14-2016, we are not doing anything special. The only thing I managed to do was to make a nice meal for lunch. Between my very demanding teething son and all the things we do on weekend, it is impossible to plan anything. At least I did make an effort to do so. Here I give you garlic Rosemary rack of lamb with garlic Rosemary roasted potatoes and roasted asparagus and mushroom in balsamic glaze.
Wonder what I have been up to? Well more sewing. More pad making cause I’m addicted and I mean making my own pattern testing it out or just for fun. And, buying more and more fabric! I need to stop!! I recently figured out the correct foot and the stitch in my sewing machine to do overlock stitch. I feel golden….there are some projects that you just need to have the Serged look, say cloth wipes or heart shape breast pad like bamboobies. So I made my own version of bamboobies, with flannel top for decoration and cotton velour for the soft touch to skin. Not that I need breast pad anymore since I dried up after being sick with a cold for a month. But maybe u can get better at this and list it on etsy 🙂
Here are pics of my adventurous pads and they are quite difficult to turn. My fingers cramped up and I did tear the fabric a little bit. Be my judge and tell me what you think??
